Principal, Retirement Plan Consultant

Experience in Retirement Plan Leadership

Ali Pino is a Principal and Retirement Plan Consultant with Spherient Advisors, serving employers in Richmond, Virginia and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and nationally.

Ali joined Spherient in 2021 after spending 15 years at two of the top retirement plan providers. She began her career at John Hancock as a Retirement Plan Sales Associate and advanced to Vice President of Strategic Relationship Management, ultimately managing a portfolio of $1.6 billion in retirement plan assets across more than 600 plans.

She later served as the Managing Director of Emerging Markets for MassMutual, covering Southeast Virginia. In that role, she was responsible for distribution of MassMutual’s retirement platform and investment-only placements through financial advisors.

Her experience working at retirement plan providers gives Ali an insider perspective on how recordkeepers operate, along with well-rounded expertise across all aspects of retirement plan management. She now uses that insight to help plan sponsors navigate complex fiduciary decisions and effectively manage their retirement plans.

The most rewarding part of her work, however, is guiding employees through the complexities of retirement planning—helping make saving, investing, and long-term financial decisions relatable and easy to understand. Her focus on employee education empowers participants to engage with their retirement plans confidently and work toward long-term financial security.

Ali earned a BA in Public Relations and Spanish from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Life Beyond Work

Originally from Westfield, New Jersey, she currently resides in Richmond, Virginia. Outside the office, Ali competes in show jumping with her horse Noah, spends time at her family’s beach house on Ocracoke Island, and enjoys the outdoors with her two Australian Shepherds, Ollie and Archie—who, along with Noah, always keep life entertaining.

“We are advisors first. Our role is not to sell a retirement plan product, but to provide fiduciary guidance that helps employers navigate their responsibilities with clarity and discipline. Retirement plan oversight requires structure, documentation, and thoughtful decision-making, and that is where we focus our work. We place equal importance on educating employees and helping them build confidence in saving, investing, and ultimately retiring successfully.
